I’ve always grown up with golf in my life but started playing it properly about 12 years ago.
What first got you interested in the sport?
My dad works on the golf course and so I’ve grown up there. However I played other sports when I was younger especially football but when there weren’t enough girls to play for a team I decided to take up golf on a Saturday morning.
What are the common misconceptions about the sport?
That golf is an old man’s sport – it’s really not! This is something that needs to be changed. The ladies European tour is doing a great job at inspiring the next generation.
What do you enjoy most?
I enjoy the competitive nature of the sport and always wanting to better myself.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
I would love to become a scratch golfer (a player who can play to a Course Handicap of zero on any and all rated golf courses). I am nearly there!! I currently work in golf and would like to make a difference and inspire more girls to take up the sport.
What advice would you give someone who wants to play golf and become a professional?
Keep practicing and never give up on your dreams!
What is it like being a woman playing golf?
It’s great, you don’t realise how many young girls play the sport. Also beating the men is fun because they don’t like being beaten by a girl!
What advice would you give your younger self?
Enjoy it and don’t get frustrated if you didn’t play well! Keep practicing and stay patient because good golf will come.
